George Fowlie, Board Member

I graduated with a BA from University of Toronto, followed by an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. I then began a 40+ year career in banking and finance, all in Canada, with a focus on mid-sized, private companies mostly in Ontario.

My wife Susan and I have been married over 50 years and we have two children, Meredith, and Jonathan, who each have two children. Jonathan’s family has a cabin in Magic Lake. The opportunity to live close to them inspired me to move to Pender in late 2020. My daughter lives in California, so they are not too far away.

 I first got involved in the not-for-profit sector at the local level with sports activities. When our kids moved on, I volunteered with other organizations, including 15 years with Outward Bound, ten of them as Chairman of the national organization. My involvement in health care includes the Heart & Stroke Foundation; the Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery; and Kids Help Phone. I’ve also served as a director in several public and private companies.

I am honored to join the Society and plan to contribute my experience to achieving the vision of providing quality, accessible health care and wellness support for the Pender community.
