Better at Home
The Better at Home program offers non-medical home support to help older adults stay in their homes longer and to continue to play an active role in our community.
Older adults are a valued part of our community, and their active involvement enhances our diversity, resiliency, and vitality. The Better at Home program is designed to help older adults stay in their homes safer and longer by providing a range of non-medical home supports. Our goal is to enable our older adults to maintain an active role in our community.
The Better at Home program will match older adults with the services of a Friendly Helper (contractor/companion) who can help with:
Counselling/peer support
Caregiver relief
Deep Cleaning
Digital literacy / tech support
Errands
Friendly Visiting
Garbage and Recycling
Grocery shopping/services
Light Housekeeping
Light yard work
Meal delivery
Minor home repairs
Prescription pick-up/drop-off
Resource and referrals
Shared Meals
Snow Removal
Social Events
Transportation

The contractors will provide a friendly, helpful, and caring service. The client and contractor will coordinate service times that are suitable to both and the client pays for only what is needed.
