WAIVER

In order to meet the requirements for PIHCS insurance coverage, any person borrowing medical equipment must complete a waiver form. The person picking up the equipment can take responsibility for the equipment on behalf of the user.

Co-ordinated through Community Health Services in conjunction with the Volunteer Program.

The Pender Islands Health Care Society operates the Medical Equipment Loan Program (MELP). Equipment is available for short and long-term loan. Items are used primarily by patients recovering from surgery, convalescing at home or in palliative care. Island Health Community Nurses also provide support to this program and are the main point of contact regarding equipment donations and requests, with assistance from our Medical Office Assistant team and volunteers. All loan cupboard equipment has been donated by residents in the community or purchased through community grants. This service saves residents approximately $20,000 per year.
