Frank Deme, Board Member
Frank and his wife Martha moved to Pender Island in July of 2014 shortly after his retirement. Prior to retiring on Pender Island Frank spent roughly 40 years developing and working with computer business systems. This ranged from programming, through systems and business analysis and into management. His career concluded as Director of Business Systems Development and Maintenance with Nelson Canada, a Canadian educational publisher.
Upon moving to Pender, Frank became involved with the Pender Island Choral Society and also with the Pender Island Golf Club. He participated in the choir from 2015 through 2020 and served on the Board as Treasurer from 2015 through 2019. Frank continues to be a member of the Golf Club and served on the Board initially as the Board House Chairperson from 2016 through 2021 and then as President for 2023 and 2024. During that time he also retained the duties of the House Chairperson.
He reports that over the past number of years he has learned how important the work of the Health Care Society is as it deals with the administrative functions of the clinic, including managing both overhead and building maintenance. This allows the health care providers to focus on their patients without the distractions of administrative paperwork. As a patient, this is important to him since the medical clinic and the other services available at the Health Centre represent a one-stop shop for his needs.
