Maggie Macdonald, Board Member
Maggie is a retired Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Military lawyer. She spent over 29 years as a member of the Judge Advocate General Branch of the CAF. Her duties included matters pertaining to military discipline, and domestic Canadian civil and military legal matters. In the latter half of her career, her responsibilities extended to matters of international law, including military operations law and international humanitarian law. In addition to various postings in Canada, she also had positions in Germany, Croatia (on secondment to the UN), the United States (studying at the US Army Judge Advocate General’s School in Virginia), and Belgium (on secondment to NATO).
Maggie moved to Pender Island in 2006. Since moving here, amongst other community activities, she has been a volunteer for Community Support Services, provided through the Health Centre and the Health Care Society. This work includes driving clients to medical appointments on and off-island, delivering Meals on Wheels, and helping with vaccination clinics. She previously spent six years on the Board of the Health Care Society. More recently she was a member of the Board of the Pender Islands Fire Protection Society, finishing in November 2021.
